Maintaining a team of competent, professional, and incredibly skilled ASL interpreters is no easy task, but it is a challenge Hands In Motion takes on with the utmost care.

Our interpreters are screened for the following skill sets and achievements:

  • Completion of an Interpreter Preparation Program (ITP) or higher degree from accredited colleges and universities.
  • Holding certifications such as the CI (Certificate of Interpretation),  the CT (Certificate of Transliteration),  the NIC (National Interpreter Certification, and various state-issued certifications.
  • Experience interpreting high-level executive meetings, functions within the highest departments of government, plays and musicals performed in a multitude of venues, and legal proceedings.
  • Skill sets that include certification and top notch experience in legal and medical environments.

In addition to offering stellar interpreting services, Hands In Motion can provide you other ASL services some other agencies are unable to provide:

  • “Deaf Awareness” Classes, reviewing Deaf history and unlocking Deaf culture.
  • Basic ASL Signing Classes: Can be offered to offices with a Deaf employee or one-on-one with those with an interest in learning sign for self-enrichment.

Our services reflect our understanding of today’s needs for interpreters in every sector of the market, medicine, and government. That’s why we are prepared to tackle any assignment or request.

Hands In Motion is proud to provide the following services:

  • 24/7 phone service and support
  • Emergency requests (those with less than 24 hours notice)
  • Exemplary Client Service
  • Highly-skilled Interpreters for Education, Government, Conference, Medical, Legal, & Fine Arts settings.
  • Contractual Relationships with Clients (yielding Lower Rates for the client)
  • ASL Tours
  • “Deaf Awareness” & Basic ASL classes

Our interpreters arrive 15 minutes early to all assignments. This is in attempt to develop a rapport with the client and/or Deaf customer. It also gives the interpreter to gather background information on the assignment at hand. The client is not charged for this 15 minute early arrival.

Interpreting can be a very physically demanding occupation. Hands In Motion abides by the industry standard that any assignment 2 hours or more will require 2 interpreters.

And all interpreting work is performed by a team of interpreters who strictly follow the Code of Ethics as set out by Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID, www.rid.org).
